San Marcos Academy is hosting the 8th annual Wittliff Lecture Series featuring Herbert Zeck, M.D., Institute for Reproductive Medicine & Endocrinology - Bregenz, Austria founder and director emeritus. The presentation, The Value of IVF, Giving New Life to Love, will occur today from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at San Marcos Academy Robinson Christian Center.
The Lecture Series was established to acknowledge and recognize the more than 200 American and international students and research fellows who trained in Dr. Wittliff’s laboratories in addition to accomplished individuals in STEM-related professions. It also attracts noteworthy scientists, clinicians and educators to SMA to advance the Academy’s STEM program. The intent is to expose students to the career journeys and accomplishments of exceptional individuals who have had an impact on areas of critical importance for mankind’s advancement.
Dr. Herbert Zech is a pioneer and entrepreneur in reproductive medicine. His presentation will cover the science of in vitro fertilization. Herbert completed a medical degree specializing in OB/ GYN and after clinical experience in Graz, Austria, returned to the Women's Clinic in Innsbruck. Following a chance meeting with Professor Jim Wittliff at the Winter Conference there, Herbert received a prestigious Fulbright Scholarship to study the molecular endocrinology of cancer at the University of Louisville.
