Toyota Rattler Stadium turns 10 years old this year, which is the home for the San Marcos Rattlers.

Prior to 2014, the Rattlers shared a home with the Texas State Bobcats, playing at both Evans Field and UFCU Stadium, formerly known as Bobcat Stadium.

But with Texas State moving to Football Bowl Subdivision in 2012, the ability for the Rattlers to play home games at UFCU Stadium were soon becoming few and far between, leading to the push for the Rattlers to play in a place of their own.

After years of trying, SMCISD got the approval and funds necessary for the construction of a new stadium.

Toyota Rattler Stadium would make its debut Oct. 17, 2014 when San Marcos hosted the Kerrville Tivy Antlers in front of over 5,000 fans.

Though San Marcos dropped their game against the Antlers, the Rattlers finally had a home base all to themselves.

Three years later, the Rattlers would host Round Rock Westwood in the first ever playoff game played at Toyota Rattler Stadium featuring the hometown team.

In a thrilling game, San Marcos defeated Westwood 64-50 to capture the Bi-District Championship.

Toyota Rattler Stadium remains a proud symbol for San Marcos.

Here is to another ten years.
