The Rattlers return home in a district showdown with the Converse Judson Rockets.
The Rockets enter their matchup with San Marcos with a 1-5 overall record and a 0-2 district record. Judson’s only win of the season came against the Hutto Hippos in a 31-29 win. Last Friday, Judson fell to the Cibolo Steele Knights 56-3.
Quarterback Elijah Favela leads the offense for the Rockets, passing for 1,288 yards and eight touchdowns. Favela has also rushed for 81 yards on 39 carries and two touchdowns.
Wide receiver Davian Watson has been Favela’s main target with a team high of 27 catches for 330 yards and one touchdown. Wide receiver Jack Call is second in catches with 21 for 216 yards and a team high three touchdowns.
In the ground game, running back Kayden Graham leads the team in rushing with 106 carries for 500 yards and five touchdowns.
On defense, linebacker Jordan Dukes leads the team in total tackles with 74 along with 55 solo tackles and 5.0 tackles for loss. Linebacker Marcel Smith is second in total tackles with 61, 40 solo tackles and 6.0 tackles for loss.
The San Marcos-Judson series dates back to 1974 when both teams were placed in the same district for the 1974 and 1975 seasons.
The Rattlers won the first ever meeting between the two teams in a 35-0 win over the Rockets. In their next meeting, San Marcos dominated Judson 62-13.
The win in 1975 marked the last time the Rattlers defeated Judson as the Rockets have won 16 straight games over San Marcos since.
In their last meeting in 2023, Judson defeated the Rattlers 48-16.
Kickoff for San Marcos- Judson is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday at Toyota Rattler Stadium.
