Texas State notched another conference road win under their belt, beating the Troy Trojans 2-1 following a last minute goal from junior defender Marie Philipzen for the junior’s first career goal.

The Bobcats improve to 7-3-4 overall and 3-0-2 in conference play.

"It's never easy to get three points on the road, and tonight was no exception,” Head Coach Steve Holeman said. “It was a hard-fought match that took a complete 90-minute effort. We'll enjoy this win and head home to get ready for the next one.”

Texas State and Troy played to a scoreless draw in the first half, as neither team could find the back of the net despite their chances.

The Bobcats broke through in the 58th minute.

Breaking free from the defense off the pass from junior Mady Soumare, fifth-year senior midfielder Mya Ulloaa beat the charging goalkeeper, kicked the ball above the keeper’s head and delivered a shot into the goal.

Going into the 59th minute, the Bobcats led 1-0.

Texas State held the lead until the 78th minute, where Troy delivered the equalizer.

Coming off the corner kick, Troy connected with the header. The ball got past the keeper, allowing the Trojans to tie the game at 1-1.

While the game looked like it was going to end in a draw, with both teams getting one point apiece, the Bobcats had other ideas.

In the 82nd minute, Texas State moved into Troy territory. Senior defender Lucy Hart received the ball on the other side of the field before delivering the pass towards the scrum in front of the goal.

The pass looked to miss its intended target but found its way to Philipzen, who came towards the ball before delivering the little sidekick that pushed the ball past the goalkeeper and into the net.

Philipzen's first ever goal put the Bobcats up 2-1.

Troy tried to answer back in the 85th minute with a shot on goal but goalkeeper Caitlyn Draper made the save to keep the Trojans off the scoreboard.

The Trojans were unable to find an answer as the Bobcats came home with the win at 2-1.

Texas State returns to play today in a showdown with the Louisiana Monroe Warhawks.

Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
