Broke Thespians Theatre Company will host Haunted Harmonies, a one-night-only cabaret featuring Halloween- themed songs from popular musicals and films such as Beetlejuice, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Sweeney Todd and Hocus Pocus. The event will take place at the Maurice T. Suttles VFW Post 3413, offering a mix of spooky classics from stage and screen.
'The Haunted Harmonies Cabaret has been in the works for over a year, and I’m so grateful to finally be able to make this project a reality with an amazing team of artists,” Billie Guffey, the cabaret’s lead organizer, said. “I am a big Halloween fanatic because it’s a day of self-expression.'
Guffey is a student in Texas State University's Performance and Production program as well as a collaborator with Broke Thespians Theatre Company.
'We believe in everyone living their truth to the fullest,” Guffey said. “I hope this cabaret will inspire the community to be free from the shackles of insecurity and be unapologetically themselves. What a better way to do so than with an early Halloween celebration?'
Haunted Harmonies will take place on Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. at the VFW Hall, 1701 Hunter Rd. Tickets are $5 at the door.
