BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
Wimberley Fire and Rescue go head to head with the Hays County Sheriff’s Office in their annual Battle of the Badges contest on Oct. 5 to raise money for local youth sports organizations and the American Cancer Society.
The Hays County Sheriff’s Office called the meetinganepicshowdown on the diamond and urged supporters to come out and cheer their chosen team.
“Our community does so much to support the Sheriff’s Office every year,” Alyssa Davenport, Public Information Officer for the Hays County Sheriff’s Department, said. “Either by supporting Brown Santa, thanking our Deputies on the daily, participating in Adopt-A-Cop, providing gift baskets, participating in our Citizen’s Academy, and so much more! We wanted to give back to the community and support Breast Cancer Awareness month. We work closely with all of the Fire Departments in the county and believe a friendly rivalry will be an opportunity for the employees to have some fun and relieve some of the stress of these strenuous jobs. The Wimberley Fire Department has been so supportive in partnering with us to make this event happen. We hope this will be a fun time for everyone.”
The faceoff begins at 4 p.m. at the Wimberley Independent School District’s Baseball Complex at 290 Ballpark Rd. in Wimberley. Concessions and a 50/50 raffle will be available.
The cost to attend the competition is $7 for adults and $3 for kids. Children under two are free. All proceeds go to the Wimberley Youth Sports Association and the American Cancer Society.
