In October, it’s always Saturday as First Tuesday SMTX screens “Every Night’s A Saturday Night: The Bobby Keys Story.” In this documentary, viewers will meet the man who was best friends with Keith Richards, who was considered the sixth member of the Rollings Stones and who Charlie Watts called, “the greatest rockn- roll saxophonist in the world.” Keys worked with the Stones, John Lennon, Joe Cocker, Eric Clapton and countless Texas musicians. Key’s story is one of a small-town Texas kid who knew Buddy Holly, rose to stardom and then crashed and burned before his comeback with the Stones.
Directed by Jeff Stacy, “Every Night’s A Saturday Night” will feature a post-film Q&A with the director and Hector Saldaña. Texas Music Curator for The Witliff Collections.
Doors will open at 6:15 p.m. Oct. 1. Pizza from Pie Society and beer from Middleton Brewery will be served starting at 6:30 p.m. The screening will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 and available online at firsttuesdaysmtx. com.
