It may be a little late notice, because this event starts at 8 a.m. today, but it is too important not to include. The Maurice T. Suttles Post 3413 will honor the sacrifice of prisoners of war and those missing in action for National POW/ MIA Recognition Day. “We do this every year, because if we don’t keep reminding ourselves then they are forgotten,” VFW Post Commander Stephanie Brown said. “If we don’t keep talking about it, it is forgotten.” The AFJROTC TX-921
from San Marcos High School will perform a flag folding ceremony and the commander will give a small speech. The event will coincide with the VFW Post’s monthly community breakfast from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Brown said that they typically have the breakfast staples like eggs, bacon and coffee and then everybody brings something to eat. The event typically has anywhere from 30 to 60 attendees.
