Texas State bounced back from their loss to Hawaii by sweeping the Oregon State Beavers 3-0 [25-22, 25-18, 25-20].
The Bobcats improved their record to 4-3 overall as Texas State continues its week-long trip in Hawaii.
The Bobcats and the Beavers battled in a fierce back-and-forth affair with neither team gaining a lead larger than two points. Late in the first set, both teams found themselves tied 18-18.
Oregon State went on a 3-0 run to go up 21-18, but the Bobcats responded with a 5-0 run to lead 23-21.
Texas State won the set at 25-22 to lead the match 1-0.
In the second set, the game was tied at 2-2 before the Bobcats went on a monster 7-0 run to lead 9-2.
While Texas State held the lead, the Beavers made a comeback and trimmed their deficit down to 19-17.
But the Bobcats responded by going on a 5-0 run and closed out the second set at 25-18 to take a commanding 2-0 match lead.
Texas State continued to dominate the early portions of the set play by jumping out ahead 12-4.
But again, Oregon State refused to go away and the Beavers once more cut the deficit down to 20-18, heading into the final stretch of the third set.
Texas State slammed the doors on an Oregon State comeback by going on a 4-1 run to take the third set and complete the match sweep.
Freshman outside hitter M.J. McCurdy led the team in kills with 15 while senior Ryann Torres completed the double- double with 36 assists and 12 digs.
Texas State will play Hawaii at 12 a.m. central time before press time.
