Calling All Instrumentalists
Rehearsals reconvene for the Aquarena Springs Symphonic Band. The group will be reading new charts in preparation for spring and summer performances.
The community band is welcoming experienced wind and percussion players with high school experience and beyond.
No audition required, only a desire to play music.

Life Long Learning: Register Now!
San Marcos Parks and Recreation in cooperation with Life Long Learning of San Marcos is once again offering new Life Long Learning courses for the greater San Marcos area. The classes are primarily for those age 60 and above, but adults of any age are welcome to register. A minimum number of registrants is required for these classes to make.
Turtle Tuesdays
When: Every Tuesday, 10 - 11 a.m.
Where: San Marcos Discovery Center, 430 Riverside What: Participants can interact with, feed and create enrichmentitems for the turtles who call the Discovery Center home. Food and supplies are provided, and no registration is required for this program. FREE!
60+ Game Day
When: Meets every Monday except City Holidays, from 12:30 to 4 p.m.
Where: San Marcos Activity Center What: Join us for Game Day Game materials for Bridge, Mexican Train Dominoes, Hand & Foot and 42 are provided. We will add new games at your request! New members are welcome. Registration for Game Day is no longer required. Make sure you arrive on time to get in on a game!
Cover Letters Made Easy

Mindfulness Meditation
When: Tuesdays, April 16, 23 & 30, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Where: San Marcos Public Library Who: Participants (all levels) will be introduced to different Mindfulness Meditation practices, including “sitting,” “standing” and “lying.” Funded by St.
David’s Foundation; for ages 18 and up.
60+ Indoor Cornhole
When: Tuesday, April 16, 1 p.m.
What: Whether you’re a seasoned player or new to this sport, join us once a month for 60+ Indoor Cornhole at the San Marcos Activity Center. Cornhole is similar to horseshoes except you use wooden boxes called cornhole platforms and corn bags instead of horseshoes and metal stakes. Contestants take turns pitching their bags at the platform until a contestant reaches the score of 21 points. A bag in the hole scores 3 points, while one on the platform scores 1 point.
Benefits of playing Cornhole for Senior Citizens include increased mobility and leg strength, depth perception and vision, and balance and hip mobility.

Express Yourself! Self-Discovery through Expressive Arts
When: Tuesday, April 16, 23 & 30, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. AND Thursday, April 4,11 & 18, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. NO MEETING ON April 25th!
Where: San Marcos Public Library Who: Put on a lens of discovery and use art-making, writing, play, sound, and movement to explore and express who you are! Participants love Express Yourself for the community and playfulness, and leave feeling inspired, free, and more at ease within themselves. Squashing Stress
When: Wednesday, April 17 & 24; 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Where: San Marcos Public Library Who: Learn the appeal and versatility of DAS, Air Dry paper-based clay—to knead, roll, shape and form objects while enjoying the stress reduction provided by the soothing, tactile nature of the material. Once dry, pieces are painted and glazed and used to make jewelry, trinket trays, ornaments, small sculptures and whatever else we can imagine. Classes begin with a gentle stretch to get us all in the right frame of mind and promote a spirit of camaraderie and trust in a safe, non-judgmental space where process takes precedence over product. All materials provided.

60+ SMASH Sack Lunch Social and Bingo When: Thursday, April 18, 12:30 p.m.
For each SMASH Sack Lunch Social and Bingo meeting, participants will need to bring their own sack lunch to eat while socializing with friends before we play Bingo. The Sack Lunch Social will begin at 12:30 p.m. and Bingo will begin at 1 p.m. Water and tea will be provided as well as bingo prizes.
