Freddie and Sylvia Garza were married on Feb. 21, 1954. On Sunday, Feb 25 they celebrated their 70th anniversary with their children — Bobbie Garza-Hernandez, Gail Gonzales Dottie Fedro and Mandy Carreno — their children-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren as well as their many friends from the community. Freddie and Sylvia were born and raised in San Marcos and owned several local businesses before retirement. They owned Freddie’s Car Cleaning for 60 years, and Sylvia opened the first Mexican restaurant in San Marcos, La Cabana, that was in operation from 1973 to 1991. Daily Record photos by Shannon West
