INTERNATIONAL FILMS ON MY COUCH

For the film lovers out there, I’ve got an event for you. Texas State is hosting an International Film Festival, symposium and art exhibition on Celebrity. This year’s theme is Between Fame and Infamy. There will be multiple events occurring between February 22 and March 8. This weekend's events are online, so no travel is required. The majority of the events will be on the campus in person though. On Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. the theme is Celebrity and Image-Making: The Queen Effect, and the film Queen Margot by Patrice Chereau, which is a french film made in 1994. According to the website, the film is an adaptation of a Alexandre Dumas novel that “tackles a queen’s intimate war against social expectations.” Sunday’s event, Mapping celebrity: Places of visibility, overexposure, and underexposure is also online and will occur from 6 to 8 p.m. The film is Nobody’s Watching by Julia Solomonoff from 2017 and is an Argentinian film. The film documents a star's rise to fame and his battles between success and identity. The schedule of events and links to zoom for the online events can be found at this link: internationalfilmfestivalandsymposiumoncelebrity.wp.txstate.edu/schedule/
