Junior outfielder Christiana McDowell added another postseason honor on Thursday after being named to the All-Central Region Third Team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).
The Round Rock native led Texas State in batting average (.361) and hits (60) in the 2019 season. McDowell was also top-10 in the Sun Belt Conference in on-base percentage (.457), walks drawn (28) and stolen bases (23), and committed three errors on 106 chances this year.
The senior was named to the All-Sun Belt Second Team on May 7. She is the 26th player under Bobcats head coach Ricci Woodard to be selected for an NFCA All-Region team. Texas State has had at least one player earn the distinction every year since 2014.
"It has been great to watch Christiana bring her game up to a higher level this year," Woodard said in a statement. "To put up the offensive numbers she did, not only at the plate but also on the base paths, is a huge accomplishment. It is always nice to see players get rewarded for their achievements and we could not be more proud of her."
