The Hays County Historical Commission (HCHC) is accepting applications for membership through Jan. 15. Members are appointed by the Hays County Commissioners Court.
The HCHC serves to promote the preservation of historic resources in the county, including archeological sites. The members also place official Texas Historical Markers, conduct research on the county’s history, maintain and document the county’s cemeteries, operate the Hays County Museum (located in the historic Hays County Courthouse) and the Kyle Depot and Heritage Center. The HCHC shares the history of the county through publications, educational programs, documentary videos, oral history presentations, and historical tours.
HCHC members, who serve two-year terms and may serve multiple terms, are expected to attend monthly meetings, usually scheduled for the fourth Thursday of the month.
Additional information about the HCHC is available on the commission website. The application for membership is posted on the Members section of the website and includes instructions for submission.
