Austin’s most *popular* musical — “Wicked” — will return to the Bass Concert Hall March 13 to 31, 2024, as part of Texas Performing Arts Broadway in Austin series. Single tickets are on sale now starting at $49.

Currently the fourth longest-running show in Broadway history, “Wicked” celebrated its 20th anniversary on Broadway Oct. 30.

Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, “Wicked” tells the true story of Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, and her BFF Galinda (aka Glinda the Good Witch), as they navigate the corrupt political landscape of their home kingdom of Oz. Long before the arrival of Dorothy Gale, the green-skinned, fiery- tempered and misunderstood witch Elphaba met the exceptionally popular Galinda. Their initial rivalry transforms into an unlikely friendship, one that endures the struggles of their opposing upbringings to forge an enduring bond.

Featuring a score that includes “Defying Gravity,” “Popular” and “For Good,” “Wicked” was called “the defining musical of the decade,” by “The New York Times.”

Tickets are available at texasperformingarts. org and BroadwayinAustin.com, by phone at (512) 477-1444 or from the Texas Performing Arts ticket office at Bass Concert Hall.

“Wicked” will run March 13 - 31, Tuesday - Thursday at 7:30 p.m.; Friday at 8 p.m.; Saturday at 2 and 8 p.m.; and Sunday at 1 and 6:30 p.m.
