ASVAB testing resumes at Gary Job Corps

Prior to the COVID outbreak, the Gary Job Corps Center would test students upon arrival at the center with the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB). Now, after a three-year halt, the testing will be available again for all new students.

Prior to the COVID outbreak, the Gary Job Corps Center would test students upon arrival at the center with the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB). Now, after a three-year halt, the testing will be available again for all new students.

ASVAB testing has always been available upon request by students who are enrolled at Gary Job Corps. The test is used for career planning and as a tool for determining the aptitude and strongest attributes for a student’s success.

Sgt. Robert Mackey currently assists with the center’s correlation between the ASVAB and the TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education), another tool in assisting students in planning their future pursuits.

Training available at the Gary Job Corps Center includes Advanced Cement Masonry, Pre-Apprentice, Advanced Electrical, Overhead Line Construction, Advanced Human Services Worker/Residential Advisor, Advanced Machinist, Advanced Transportation Service Worker, Carpentry, Cement Masonry, Pre-Apprentice, Certified Nurse Assistant, Clinical Medical Assistant, Corrections Officer, Electrical, Machining, Material Handling and Distribution Operations, Medical Administrative Assistant, Office Administration, Security and Protective Services, Pharmacy Technician, Plastering, Pre-Apprentice and Welding.
