Taking it to heart: what is meaning of Memorial Day in our community

This past weekend serves to remind us all of the tremendous sacrifices made to preserve our freedoms.

This past weekend serves to remind us all of the tremendous sacrifices made to preserve our freedoms.

I believe that the debt we owe those who gave and are still giving is to do our very best to honor their service by making every effort to use those freedoms, especially that of free speech, for positive and constructive purposes.

The valiant defenders of democracy did not do so in order to promote, hate, lies, disinformation, conspiracy theories, defamation and fraud.

The 1st amendment prohibits the government from limiting free speech but that does not mean that it need not be limited.

In a democracy, the people, not the government, bear the responsibility for monitoring their own behavior for the public good.
