Brown signs with Rams as undrafted free agent

Brown signs with Rams as undrafted free agent

Former Texas State tight end Keenen Brown wasn’t taken in the 2019 NFL Draft. But the former Bobcat’s dream of making an NFL team remains alive.

Following the draft Saturday night, Brown agreed to join the Los Angeles Rams, the reigning NFC West division champs coming off a 13-3 season in 2018 that ended in a loss to the New England Patriots at Super Bowl LIII.

Brown only spent one year in San Marcos, but immediately made an impact at Texas State. The Houston native caught 51 passes for 577 yards and five touchdowns, leading the team in all three categories and was voted to the All-Sun Belt First Team.

He also received national attention during the season as Pro Football Focus’ top-rated tight end with a grade of 86.6 and named to the PFF All-American First Team.

Brown is one of 14 undrafted free agents signed by the Rams and will join the eight other rookies drafted by Los Angeles this offseason. The team’s first game of the season takes place against the Carolina Panthers on Sept. 8 at 12 p.m. at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.

“At first, I was counted out,” Brown said at his pro day on March 15. “Nobody believed in me but Texas State. So, that’s why every time I do something, I shout out Texas State because they really put me on the map. And I appreciate them for doing everything.”
