Editor,
Trustee Miguel Arredondo’s continued profound and egregious public displays of his alcoholism demands forthwith that he resign from his position on the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District. I do not want a Marion Barry on one of our most important boards. Our city’s history of tolerance and support of elected politicians who have problems with alcohol must cease.
My demand, yes not request, comes at a time when Jacqui Saburido dies at age 40. At no time now or will there EVER BE a stronger case against “Driving Under the Influence” than her tragic story.
As a Licensed County Jailer, from former employment, I still have horrifying memories of drunken drivers being “hauled” into central booking usually by at least two burly law enforcement officers having immense difficulty just transporting the offenders inside the facility.
These individuals ran the gamut: the frequent flyers; ladies impeccably dressed though bereft of one high heel shoe and lingerie; the juvenile who stole the family car, secured wine from an adult who purchased it for him, while inebriated drove the car into a family home; professionals; students; ministers. It is unfathomable that these individuals were the drivers of motor vehicles.
This board position I place above all others simply because it directly affects our progeny. Though no monetary remuneration is received, one has a profound fiduciary responsibility to our children, residents, taxpayers, and citizens of this city.
The children of San Marcos Texas DESERVE BETTER!!!!!
