Texas State extended head men’s basketball coach Danny Kaspar’s contract through the 2022-23 season, the University announced Thursday.
Kaspar helped lead the Bobcats to their best season in two decades during the 2018-19 campaign. Texas State finished the year with a 24-10 record.
"We are thrilled to extend coach Kaspar as our head men's basketball coach," athletic director Larry Teis said. "He has put together a couple of historic seasons on the court, while cultivating a successful academic culture off the court. We are extremely excited to move forward under his leadership.”
Kaspar sits at No. 3 in all-time wins at Texas State with 98 victories. He’s recorded two 20-win seasons in the last three years. Alongside the 24-10 record during the 18-19 season. The 2016-17 team went 22-14 and played in the Sun Belt tournament championship game. Both teams played in the CollegeInsider.com Tournament. Kaspar has had four All-Sun Belt and three NABC selections. Junior guard Nijal Pearson became the program’s first NABC first-team selection.
"I am very excited about receiving an extension from Texas State University," Kaspar said. "Texas State is a fine place to work and I believe we have the potential to build something very special with our men's basketball program. I am looking forward to working hard to bring a Sun Belt Conference title to the program."
