A man was struck by a train Wednesday night, leaving him in critical condition.

The San Marcos Police Department and emergency personnel were dispatched to a collision involving a train and pedestrian on Hopkins Street at approximately 10:30 p.m., according to City of San Marcos officials.

Officers reported a man had been standing or walking along the railroad tracks near Long Street when he was struck by a westbound train. Police said the man was transported to Ascension Seton Hays in Kyle. He was listed in critical condition, at the time of publication. Officials did not immediately identify the man.
