Texas State New Ventures — an initiative involving the Materials Application Research Center (MARC), the Texas State NSF I-Corps Site (directed by the Material Science Engineering and Commercialization Program) and the Service Learning Excellence Program, as well as other participating organizations — is seeking applications from entrepreneurial teams for a competition next month.

Ultimately, exceptional participants identified through those programs and other pipelines will have the opportunity to apply for a spot in the New Ventures Program, where up to three innovation teams will be accepted. Each team can apply for up to $20,000 in non-dilutive startup funding.

They’ll have the opportunity to work with entrepreneurs-in-residence to scale and develop their business and will get space at STAR One, Texas State’s rapidly growing technology incubator, just south of campus.

Core business concepts should be proprietary, sustainable and scalable. Ideally, they will be beyond the ideation and planning stage. Finally, teams are required have at least one significantly contributing member who is a current student, faculty, or staff member holding a valid Texas State issued ID at the time of application.

The competition will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, at STAR Park.

Applications are available online and the deadline is April 11.

Send an email to [email protected] briefly introducing your team and concept.
