Reusing and recycling is the concept behind the latest gallery exhibit, Something Old to Something New, which features 80 innovative artworks by 70 area artists. The exhibit, which is on display throughout the first-floor galleries of the Price Center, will close today with an afternoon reception from 2 - 4 p.m.
Something New is a feast for the eyes and imagination with masterfully clever, colorful and creative works made from a wide variety of common and often disposable materials. Twenty-five mosaic-specific artworks by members of the Austin Mosaic Guild complete the exhibit in the Main Parlor. Many of the works are for sale, and a portion of all sales benefits the ongoing art efforts at the center.
The Austin Mosaic Guild will hold its closing reception today, featuringl ive music, light refreshments and a chance to meet many of the artists who are exchibiting their work in the collection. The event is free and open to all.
Community Art Shows are conducted by the Price Center Arts Committee and funded in part through a grant from the San Marcos Arts Commission. New calls for art are issued every couple of months.
