Naturescapes 2019 now seeking entries

The Hays County Master Naturalists and Hill Country Photography Club are seeking photographic images that capture the natural beauty of the Texas Hill Country for the 15th Annual Naturescapes Photography Contest. Entries will be accepted from April 1 through June 24.

Details and entry forms are available at the Naturescapes' website.

Selected photographs will be displayed at the San Marcos Activity Center Walkers Gallery Sept. 7 through Oct. 25 with awards for various categories announced at a reception the evening of the opening.

The awards in adult and youth categories will be judged by Austin adventure photographer Jason Weingart. He will be selecting and awarding images that have been captured in Hays, Blanco, Comal, Guadalupe, Caldwell and Travis counties.

“Our goal is to help increase the public awareness of the natural beauty of our surroundings,” says Susan Neill, president of the Hays County Master Naturalists, “and the importance of protecting it for future generations to enjoy.”

The Hays County Master Naturalists are sponsoring an award for the best photo of a Natural Waterscape with a cash prize of $75. The photo must capture a natural water feature such as a creek, river, pond or lake. There will also be a $100 top prize for Best in Show and a $75 prize for Best in Youth category.

“We are excited about our 15th year of showcasing the beauty and mystique of nature by talented photographers, both young and old,”  says Carol Serur, president of the Hill Country Photography Club.

“We encourage everyone to get outdoors and enjoy nature, and share their images captured with not only traditional cameras, but with their cell phones as well,” she continued.
