Gregory Paul Mitchum, 46, of San Marcos, TX, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family and friends on December 13, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. Greg was born in San Bernardino, CA to Phillip Mitchum (pre-deceased) and Kathleen Mitchum-McIntosh on October 20, 1975.
Greg met his wife, Stacey Boston, in 1993, married moved to Texas in 1999, where they raised their two children Blake Boston and Angela Mitchum-Dormer.
Greg leaves behind his wife of 24 years, son Blake and daughter-in-law Stephanie Boston, two grandchildren Finley and Oliver Boston; daughter Angela and son-in-law Kevin Dormer; sister, Karen Wright; two stepbrothers Jeffrey McIntosh and Erick McIntosh; brother and sister-in-law Robert & Christy Theiss; nephews and nieces Kade Varner and Tyler Theiss; Brandon McGhee, Leena
Bond, four great-nephews and nieces, Avery and Haven Bond and Elizabeth and Charlotte McGhee; as well as Aunts, Uncles, Great Aunts and Great Uncles and over 42 cousins.
Greg was a proud Deputy Sheriff with Hays County for three years and a Deputy Sheriff with Travis County for 17 years. He served with the Texas National Guard, ran half-marathons, and completed multiple triathlons. He graduated with a degree in Business Administration Management.
Greg’s passion was photography and he opened his business known as Greg Mitchum Photography in 2016. His pictures were reviewed by the Professional Photographers of America and awarded points towards becoming a master photographer, as well as finishing a certificate of Certified Professional Photographer.
Greg was also dedicated to serving his community by donating his time in photography to the San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter, organized an event to raise money for PAWS animal shelter in Kyle, TX. He also volunteered his photography services for central Texas hospitals in their Labor & Delivery units.
A Solemn Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Greg on Thursday December 23, at 10 a.m., in Saint John’s the Evangelist Catholic Church, located 624 E Hopkins St, San Marcos, TX 78666.
