City seeking volunteers for Complete Count Committee

Even though it’s almost a year away, the 2020 Census is being prepared for in San Marcos and across the country. To help ensure a successful census —  which produces data used in part to determine government funding of popular programs — the city is hoping to fill 19 positions on its Census 2020 Complete Count Committee.

Membership in the committee is specific, allowing for 2 representatives from each of the following segments of the community: Texas State University, the business community, the school district and education sector, community organizations and nonprofits, faith-based groups, media, youth organizations and the healthcare industry. Additionally, three “at-large” members will be named.

Residents who are interested in serving on the committee are urged to fill out volunteer interest forms available on the city's website and return them by Wednesday, March  27 to Tammy Cook  [email protected]. The forms may also be mailed to the City Clerk’s office, 630 E. Hopkins, San Marcos Texas 78666 or faxed to 855-246-9100.

The San Marcos City Council is scheduled to review the applications and make appointments at their April 2 meeting.
