The National Association of Basketball Coaches named Texas State junior guard Nijal Pearson to the Division I All-District 24 First Team, the NABC Announced on Thursday.
Pearson is the third Texas State player to be named to the District 24 team since the 2013-14 season. He’s the first to earn first-team honors. Bobcat forwards Emani Gant (2014-15) and Kavin Gilder-Tilbury (2016-17) were named to the second-team.
Pearson put together a strong junior campaign. The Beaumont native amassed 16.4 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game during the 2018-19 season. He recorded 542 total points and is the fourth player in Texas State history to record back-to-back 500-point seasons and first in the Division I era. Pearson is No. 5 on the Bobcats’ all-time scoring list with 1,521 points and No. 2 in career made 3-pointers at 175. He made 80 3-pointers this year, which is No. 3 in Texas State’s single-season history.
Pearson also received All-Sun Belt First Team honors for his effort this year.
