Texas State’s season opener against Texas A&M has been moved to Thursday, Aug. 29.
The game was originally slated to be played on Saturday, Aug. 31 inside Kyle Field in College Station.
Texas A&M agreed to the move to boost national attention.
“Texas A&M has once again been invited to move our first football game of the season from Saturday, August 31 to Thursday, August 29,” Texas A&M president Michael K. Young said in a statement. “We have agreed to this Thursday game, as, similar to last year, this opportunity allows us to highlight our university and wonderful student athletes for a national audience.”
This will be Texas State head coach Jake Spavital’s return to College Station after he spent three seasons on Texas A&M’s staff. He was the Aggies’ offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2013-15.
The game will kickoff at 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on the SEC Network.
