Three San Marcos seniors will partake in the fourth annual Chicken Express All-Star Basketball Classic on Saturday, as forward Mason Green and guards JoAnna Galvan and Abby Pena have all been selected for the event.
The goal of the event is to provide scholarships to Hill Country-area players. Chicken Express has presented over $13,000 in scholarships since the Classic began in 2016. The fast-food chain will award $500 scholarships to two 3-point contest winners and the most valuable player of each of the North and South squads.
Green, Galvan and Pena were selected to participate by a Classic committee. They will be three of 60 student-athletes chosen for the event, representing about 30 schools.
The Chicken Express All-Star Basketball Classic will tip off at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Kerrville Tivy, beginning with the girls’ game. The boys’ game will immediately proceed it.
