Amparo Gonzalez

Amparo Gonzalez

Amparo Gonzalez of Wimberley, Texas, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2019.  She was born in San Diego, Texas on Dec. 31, 1933.

She met her husband in Premont, Texas, where they were married March 10, 1955. She supported him throughout his military career, residing in Mississippi, New York, Texas, Germany, and California. They settled in Texas, eventually retiring in Wimberley.

Amparo gave of herself without reservation as a daily participant in the community and her parish. A nature lover and devoted gardener, she respected and glorified Earth with gentle care.  She patiently waited for the first Purple Martin scout, the return of her beloved hummers, and the trilling of migrating whooping cranes. Besides the happiness of her spouse and children, these were her greatest joy. She was deeply loved by neighbors, friends and family, and returned their love freely.

Rene and she purchased property in Summer Mountain Ranch subdivision in 1993 before roads were established, accessing the property by a nature trail. They built their retirement home in 1995.

She used a gentle touch to become an unforgettable, irreplaceable part of her community.

Amparo is preceded in death by her parents Mateo and Carlota (Lopez) Valadez, sister Aminta and brother-in-law Lamar Hinojosa, husband Fulgencio Rene Gonzalez, and grandchild Andi Sinclair Gonzalez.

She is survived by sister Alma Valadez of Alice, Texas; son Antonio Rene “Tony” (Linde); son Eduardo Xavier “Ed” (Jenny); daughter Marcella Jones (Gordon); son Robert Laurence (Monica); grandchildren Duncan Tucker, Robert Christian, Jesse Manet and Isabelle Christina Gonzalez, Ashley (Devenney) Gunnels, Taylor (Bonenberger) Duncan, Reilly Ann Bonenberger, and many nieces and nephews.
