Dr. Ernest Carl (Buddy) Hinze, a resident of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 10, 2019. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend and pastor to many people across the world. Buddy loved the Lord and his family above all else.
Buddy was born to Ernest and Marjorie Hinze on Oct. 23, 1939 in Blevins, Texas, the eldest of 11 children. Buddy was called “Bubba” by his loving younger brothers and sisters his entire life.
In 1960, Buddy met the love of his life, Jamie Sue Cox. They married in 1962, and began a life-long journey together which brought three children, and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Together, Buddy and Sue weathered many storms of life, and took care of each other in sickness and health. Buddy passed away one week before their 57th wedding anniversary.
Buddy’s life was spent in devoted service to the Lord. He invited the Lord Jesus Christ into his life in 1953, and felt the call to preach soon after. He was licensed to preach in 1955 by Calvary Baptist Church in San Marcos, where the family had moved the year prior. After his marriage to Sue, Buddy spent the next 19 years serving as pastor to churches in various towns and cities across Texas, including Plainview, Fort Worth, Donna, Mission, and Greenville, Texas and Casper Wyoming and Colorado Springs, Colorado. Buddy continued his education as he pastored, obtaining his Bachelor degree, Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry. In 1996, they accepted the call to be missionaries in South Asia. In 2001, Buddy and Sue relocated to the home they had prepared for retirement in Cherokee Village Arkansas.
In 2005, Buddy began to experience neurological symptoms and received the devastating diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease.
Buddy always had a ready smile and laugh for every person he met. He kept a positive outlook through all the struggles and indignities that his body suffered. Buddy was an example of God’s love and grace to all those who knew him, and he will be sorely missed.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law, two brothers-in-law, Bobby Hart and Richard Mangum, and two nieces, Jennifer Hinze and Cheyenne Hart. He is survived by his wife, Sue and their three children; Mark (wife, Dianna,) Kevin (wife, Lynette,) and Jamie; grandchildren, Sean and Chloe Hinze, Andy, Alex (wife, Sarah,) and Austin Hamm, Justin (wife, Hilary), Corbin, and Kaylee Hinze and Karlea Schultz; great grandchildren, Grady and Evan Hinze; siblings: Pat Mangum, Sharon Hooker (husband, Don), Shirley Smith (husband, Kelly), Dwayne (wife, Susan,) Les (wife, Patti) Kenneth, Gary (wife, Juli,) Edra Bierschwale (husband, Randy,) Terry (wife, Nancy,) and Alan (wife, Tina,); and numerous nieces and nephews.
