Gumby’s Pizza San Marcos is celebrating 10 years of business in the community, and one year in their new location on Pi Day (3/14.) To honor all that the community has done for Gumby’s, all regular slices will be $1.50 and 100 percent of all slice sales on 3/14 will be donated to the Hays County Food Bank.
In addition to donating 100 percent of the day’s slice sales, Gumby’s will be hosting a free concert with performance by Audic Empire at 6:30 p.m. There will also be free beer, balloon animals, a spicy wing eating contest and giveaways throughout the day, while supplies last.
Gumby’s opened in their original location on Guadalupe street, in San Marcos, on Jan. 8, 2009. Gumby’s was the crazy dream of brothers Forrest and Adam Higdon and their father John. “We believed that San Marcos was in need of a local pizza place that delivered quality pizza with the consistency of a national chain.” Forrest said. The original location initially offered delivery and takeout.
Over the years, they expanded into a dining room and moved to their new location at 312 W. Hopkins last year. “We specialize in house made dough, sauces, and we pride ourselves on quality ingredients that create a great pizza.”
“We would love for the community to come out and enjoy a slice while raising money to help feed the area’s less fortunate.” Adam said. “We feel very fortunate to call San Marcos home and we want to give back to the community that supports us.”
