Ross Davis Compton died in his sleep on March 2, 2021, after living 86 years of a wonderful life. He was born in Denton, TX to Ross and Middie Compton.
He attended North Texas University where he met Mary Dee Weeks and they were married in 1956. Ross is survived by his children Sharon Williamson, Kay Shaw, Judith Wren and Donald Compton; by his grandchildren Kelli Williamson, Tammi Williamson, Blake Shaw and Blaine Shaw; as well as by his brother Lewis Compton and his family.
Dr. Compton taught Chemistry at Texas State University for 53 years, retiring in 2019. He also taught Sunday school in the First United Methodist Church of San Marcos and sang in the choir. He loved to travel with his family and was a long time Boy Scout Master. In recent years, Ross enjoyed tennis, golf, yoga, tai chi, Spanish lessons and playing mariachi music with his trumpet.
