Very quietly and very peacefully, Sunday, February 28, 2021 Our Father, in his infinite wisdom, mercy and grace gently received into His presence, Wilbert Archie, Jr.
Wilbert was born August 10,1940 in Greenwood, SC to parents Wilbur Archie and Olivia Allen Archie.
Wilbert served as an active duty member of the United States Air Force for 20 years before retiring. During his service he received numerous awards and accolades for his work in Cryptology and as an Electronics Instructor. In 1974 he graduated from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, TX earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree.
After retiring from the Air Force he continued working as a civilian using the skills he learned during his military service. As a civilian he was employed with companies that had ties with the U.S. Government, which he thoroughly enjoyed.
Wilbert was always an active member in every community in which he lived. In Baltimore, MD he organized an After School Program for Elementary and Middle School students. He taught them computer skills, life skills, and assisted them with their homework. He was a Christian, always an active church member, serving in various leadership positions. He also loved singing in the church choir.
One of his passions was Air Planes, especially those of the World War II variety. This led him to become a member of the Commemorative Air Force in San Marcos, TX.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Bertha Archie, his mother Olivia Allen, sister Anita Christian, two daughters, Candie Richardson and Shamin Rutledge, two sons-in-law Brian Richardson and Rodney Rutledge. Seven grandchildren, three great-grand children and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
He loved the Lord, his family and his friends and he will be missed.
