The Hays Nursing and Rehabilitation Center held its holiday “Deck the Halls” competition. Staff and residents in different wings of the nursing center come up with themes and decorate their halls, which are later judged by local officials.

Judges were Hays County Precinct 1 Commissioner Debbie Gonzales Ingalsbe, Precinct 1 Constable David Peterson, San Marcos Mayor Jane Hughson and San Marcos Place 6 council member Melissa Derrick.

The 100 Hall won Most Creative with its “Mickey Mouse Christmas Tree Land” theme.

The 200 Hall won Best Theme with “Gingerbread Land.” The 300 Hall won Most Original with its “Snow Globe Land” theme. The 400 Hall won Best Overall with its “Polar Express” theme, and the Dining Room won Most Traditional with its “White Christmas” theme.

Jason Esparza, general manager of Mr. Gattis, donated pizzas for the judging ceremony this year. Hays Nursing Administrator Daniel Morgan, Activities Director Rhonda Jones and Assistant Activities Director Esther Valdez put on the annual event for staff and residents.
