On Thursday, Feb. 28 at 7:30 p.m. the voice students from Lee Colee' Studios will be performing in a concert backed by the Alex Dormont Swing Band.
At the VFW Hall in Wimberley, just off of Jacobs Well Road, admission is free but a suggested donation of $5 per person will be appreciated. Concessions will be sold throughout the evening.
Performing in the concert will be Abby Kruse, 8, Emma White, 8 Cassie Martin, 11, Hope-Caroline Behrhorst, 10, Hannah Muhlstein, 10, Miranda Shamwell, 11, Tavia Harrell, 13, Dylan Blunk, 14, Allison Francis, 16, and Miriam Hobbs, 17.
The concert will be a mix of classic country, rock and standards and western swing. The students study many genres of music, focusing on a particular style each semester. Classical technique is the foundation for all vocal literature and the opportunity to sing with live professional musicians further enriches their musicianship, stage presence and vocal delivery, Colee’ said.
Alex Dormont and his dance band are well known in the Hill Country and appear regularly at the Cypress Creek Cafe on the Square in Wimberley. They specialize in country and rock standards, Texas Swing and jazz. An enthusiastic supporter of young talent, Dormont has attended previous performances of the students and offered constructive critiques after a concert.
The community is invited to attend and to bring boot scootin dance shoes.
