For the first 19 practices of fall camp, Texas State focused on itself. Third-year head coach Dennis Franchione and his coaching staff drilled schemes in their players’ minds and worked to fix poor alignments and missed assignments.
Beginning tonight and pushing through the last five practices before classes start Aug. 26, then extending through Aug. 30, the Bobcats turn their attention to Southern Mississippi. Texas State opens the regular season Aug. 31 in Hattiesburg, Miss. against the Golden Eagles.
“I’ve heard them talk about ‘x’ number of days until the first game, so it’s been on their minds a little bit,” Franchione said. “This has been all about us to this point in time, but now we need to turn a big part of our practice to game plan.”
