Greater Texas Credit Union has promoted Joseph Yanez to Branch Manager overseeing its San Marcos location.
The city of San Marcos Public Works Department and Capital Area Rural Transportation Systems, commonly knowns as CARTS, have developed a new tool that will allow riders to track the location of the city’s municipal transit, SMTX The Bus, in real-time. The local fixed route tracking system also provides route information and schedules to assist riders with planning trips.

Texas Water Foundation gets hands-on to learn about the San Marcos River
In a move designed to bring greater efficiency and a more people-centered approach to its legal operations, the Hays County Commissioners Court voted to bring the office of general counsel back into the district attorney’s office.
The Superintendent’s Student Leadership Council met for its April meeting where it discussed ways to address concerns occurring at school.
The San Marcos High School Varsity Tenor-Bass Choir earned a sweepstakes award at the UIL Region 12 Concert and Sightreading Contest.

Weather causes local Easter Egg Hunts to reschedule
To combat the growing number of fentanyl overdose deaths in Texas, Gov. Greg Abbott on Thursday announced a $10 million fentanyl awareness campaign and plan to distribute doses of Narcan to every county in the state.
The Hays County Commissioners Court meets at 9 a.m. today at the Hays County Courthouse with an agenda that includes more salary discussions, construction projects and COVID-19-related fund issues.
