Wristbands pitched as partial solution to underaged drinkers on river

Even though he’s about to throw in the towel on his “little piece of heaven” at the San Marcos River Retreat, longtime river defender Tom Goynes is still hoping to help find a solution to what he says is the out of control consumption of alcohol along the river south of town — and all the other issues that grow out of that.
Goynes and his wife Paula are starting to talk to realtors concerning their campground that hugs a bend in the river just outside San Marcos and comes with a long gravel bar. Though they’ve lived on the river for more than 30 years and owned the campground since 1990, the littering, lewd behavior, profanity and associated headaches have become just too much to handle, he said this week.
