A 24-year-old Kyle woman is charged with capital murder in the gruesome murder of her young daughter.
Hays County Sheriff Gary Cutler said Krystle Concepcion Villanueva is believed to have stabbed Giovanna Larae Hernandez, 5, to death and then mutilated her body. Eustorgio Arellano-Uresti, 58, described as Villanueva's father-in-law, was also stabbed numerous times, drawing an additional charge for Villanueva of aggravate assault with a deadly weapon.
Deputies responded to a 911 call from a residence in the Green Pastures area of Kyle minutes before 1 p.m. Thursday. They arrived and found Uresti outside injured. Cutler said Uresti told them the person who had stabbed him was inside the mobile home with a young child and that he feared for the child's safety.
The decision was made to call in the SWAT team. Cutler said when they entered the home they found Villanueva and Hernandez' body.
Villanueva is being held in the Hays County jail in lieu of bonds totaling $1.1 million.
