Ride the bus free on Friday
Three months after SMTX THE BUS made its debut, the city and Capital Area Rural Transportation are giving the public another day of free rides.
“Resolve to Ride” on Friday, Jan. 6 is intended to showcase the new, spacious, 29-seat, Wifi-equipped green diesel bus, which can “double as a mobile office,” the city said in a press release.
“With each ride, people will receive a raffle to enter to win a Fitbit,” city spokesman Trey Hatt said. “People may ride as many times as they want,” he noted, which ups the odds of winning the prize. For additional entries, riders may post a selfie of them on the bus using the hashtag #ResolvetoRide.
Free healthy snacks and tips on fitness and healthy living will be available.
SMTX THE BUS is free for Texas State University students and half price for seniors, persons with disabilities and elementary through high school students. Regular rates are $1 for a one-way ride, $2 for an all-day pass and $30 for a monthly pass.
