KZSM presents live events in November

Saturday, October 22, 2022

KZSM.org brings the many voices of our community to you live on your phone or laptop 24/7, but did you know you can hear those voices in person at our events? If you missed our first Kissing Alley concert this past Thursday, you’ll have multiple opportunities to meet us in November.

At our Fall Fundraiser, Thursday, November 10, 7-9 p.m. at the Price Center, you can enjoy jazz guitar with Gypsy Moon, eclectic sounds from Window Shop, and live improv theater with the wildly inventive KZSM Radio Theater players, who explore imaginary worlds every Sunday night at 9 on our station. Doors open at 6:30; tickets are $10, and treats will be available for purchase. Raffle items will include art work and gift cards for food and drink at local businesses.

Starting November 17, veteran DJ Metal Mark hosts the Triple Threat Metal Fundraiser. Eighteen different bands will perform at three different venues: At Jack’s  Road House on Thursday, Ledezma Lethal Legends from San Antonio will head the line-up. On Friday the 18th, the Gray Horse Saloon will host Bat Allison and five other groups. Saturday the 19th, the Triple Threat will move to Ragnar’s on the Compound, featuring Trejo, a band that’s played live on the sidewalk outside the studio during Metal Mark’s show (Thursdays 10 p.m.-midnight).  Triple Threat shows run from 6 p.m. to midnight; admission is $5 for one night or $10 for all three.

KZSM is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, supported entirely by donations, underwriting, and the occasional grant, so we are especially grateful to the venues and performers who have offered their spaces and artistry to make these fundraisers possible.  We are also grateful to the San Marcos Arts Commission for sponsoring our free Kissing Alley Series, which continues through the end of the year.

Our November Kissing Alley Concert will feature the country duo Foster & Quinn, with singer/songwriter San Downing opening. This free concert will run from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, November 17 in the historic alley across from the courthouse.  The entertainment at our events is as diverse as our programming—whether you like country, Metal, or smooth sounds and comedy, you’ll find something to enjoy. Check out our KZSM Facebook page and this column for more details about these upcoming events. Come out, meet our volunteers, learn more about us, and support your True Community Radio station—just south of weird.
