City to Host First-Ever Disability and Inclusion Awareness Expo

Sunday, March 26, 2023

The City of San Marcos is proud to announce it will host its inaugural Disability and Inclusion Awareness Expo (D.I.A.E.) this month. D.I.A.E. will serve as a one-stop resource to showcase disability services, products, and information available in the community.

The Expo will take place Wednesday, March 29, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the San Marcos Activity Center, 501 E. Hopkins Street. The goal of the expo is to empower residents of all walks of life with the appropriate tools to tackle challenges they often face. Individuals with a disability, care givers, family members, and small business owners will have the opportunity to learn about local and federal resources available to them.

Some exhibitors who will be available to talk with residents and provide information include Morgan’s Wonderland, a fully inclusive theme park located in San Antonio, as well as nonprofit Parking Mobility, which helps businesses efficiently address accessible parking. Many other groups, as well as the City of San Marcos Transit Division, will also be available to guide residents through resources available to them.

“We are so excited to bring the Disability and Inclusion Awareness Expo to San Marcos,” said Cindy Conyers, ADA Coordinator at the City of San Marcos. “This first-ofits- kind event will really bring a lot of convenience and valuable knowledge to families who are looking to learn more about the helpful tools available in our city and neighboring areas.”

Admission to the D.I.A.E. will be free and accessible parking will be available. An American Sign Language interpreter will be available at the educational presentations.
