TxDOT open house Thursday on work ongoing on RM 150

Wednesday, October 24, 2018

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Transportation, in partnership with Hays County, is holding an open house to share updates and gather public input on alignment alternatives for the RM 150 Alignment project. The meeting will be held on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Hays CISD Performing Arts Center, 979 Kohlers Crossing, Kyle, Texas 78640.

There will be no formal presentation and attendees are invited to come and go at their convenience. At this meeting, alignment alternatives and information on how those alternatives could be evaluated will be shared for public feedback. Attendees will be able to review project information, provide input, and visit with project team members. The open house materials will be available online after the meeting.

Comments will be accepted through Nov. 8, and can be submitted at the open house, online at www.improve150.com, by email at info@improve150.com or by mail at RM 150 Alignment,

P.O. Box 5459, Austin, Texas 78763.

The purpose of the proposed project is to relieve congestion and improve safety along the existing RM 150 roadway from west of Kyle to I-35 and to provide additional connections to the transportation network in this rapidly expanding area of Central Texas.

The need to improve RM 150 to a four-lane divided roadway was identified in the Hays County Transportation Plan in 2013. The county studied the area and held public meetings from 2014 through 2015. In 2018, the county and TxDOT began working together to conduct an Environmental Impact Study as part of the National Environmental Policy Act.

A public meeting was held in August 2018, where 172 members of the public attended. More than 30 comments were received, providing valuable information on the area and preferences for the project.
