KZSM radio — for the holidays
Well, we are now in December and as things begin to wind down for the holidays your true community radio station is gearing up with special programming for the occasion. Christmas music can be heard throughout our broadcast day. Several of our radio hosts have been preparing programs that include yuletide stories, songs in different languages, holiday memories, and children.
Tune in to Bookmarked on Tuesday the 18th to hear some of your favorite holiday stories and poems being read by your community radio family. Uncle Gene (“Tio”) is preparing another special in Spanish which will include children reading their favorite stories as well as music from south of the border. Jeremiah is stepping out of his sports programming to team up with Care of Friday Night with Care to share some of their favorite holiday stories. Of course, we will continue with our scheduled programming as well as reprising specials from last year. Some programs are just to good to leave sitting in the archives!
Metal Mark is at it again with another Heavy Metal Triple Threat. If headbanging is your thing, then join us at Jack’s Roadhouse on Dec. 13-15 for 19 heavy metal bands. We will be collecting new unwrapped toys to benefit the children of San Marcos. So, bring a toy and jump into the mosh pit with us!
In the Kissing Alley this month, come and listen to gospel music on Thursday the 20th. We are still working out the final details but there will be holiday magic in the Kissing Alley. Our concerts are always free, family-friendly, and open to the public.
KZSM community radio and the San Marcos Texas Community Radio Association will be having our annual meeting on Wednesday, December 5th at the LBJ museum. An election will be held for officers of the governing board. The meeting, as most of our meetings, is open to the public. We invite you to join us and see what community radio is about.
On Wednesday the 19th, we will also hold our monthly volunteer staff meeting. Do you have an idea or a suggestion? Have you ever thought about volunteering in a radio station or becoming a radio host? Join us at Wake the Dead Coffee House and bring your ideas and suggestions on how we may serve you better. After all, this is YOUR true community radio station.
