Dog of the Week: Carter

Carter is one cool dog. This one-year-old is always happy to run and play outside, and can keep you entertained for hours. He is fantastic with other dogs and is really easy to get along with, he loves all people. SMCISD early voting underway

Early voting is now underway in the San Marcos CISD Board of Trustee race for District 1 where Naomi Narvaiz and Danny Gonzales are running for the seat being vacated by incumbent David Castillo.  Castillo chose not to seek re-election to another three year term.
The actual election date is May 10 but those who want to cast their ballot early can do so at the Hays Government Center on S. Stagecoach Trail from now until May 6.

 

City Council calls special meeting

The San Marcos City Council will hold a special called meeting tonight starting at 5:30 p.m. to act on three resolutions regarding Upland Analytics potential move to the city.
Currently headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, Upland Analytics is “a technology-enabled, asset documentation and valuation services firm that utilizes advanced documentation management technology combined with predictive and decision analytics to derive client-specific assessments.”
 

Miss San Marcos visits elementary girls

Girls Club members at Travis Elementary got a treat yesterday afternoon when Miss San Marcos, Jacqueline Davis, came to see them.  Davis, a senior at Texas State and four year member of the Strutters, spoke to the girls about her theme of “Children of the Playground” which embraces the uniqueness and diversity of children and the importance of getting along together.  From left are Hollie Matlock, Josephine Valdez, Erica Smith, Anissa Lovitt, Dorian Contreras, Alexis Perez, Sydney Hanson, Laila Winzer, Mercedes Reyna and Desiree Matlock with Miss San Marcos Jacqueline Davis.

Corporate Challenge Horseshoe Tournament

San Marcos Parks and Recreation is sponsoring the San Marcos Corporate Challenge for 2014. The next scheduled competition will be a Billiard Tournament which will be held at Gold Crown Billiards. Current standings are Division I:  1. City of San Marcos, 2. CFAN, 3. Gary Job Corps, 4. Chick-Fil-A, 5. CenturyLink, and 6. Philips.  Division II:  1. CFAN, 2. Mensor, 3. UTC Aerospace, 4. Thermon, 5. Gary Job Corps, 6. Philips, 7. PTRC, 8. CenturyLink, and 9. City of San Marcos.

Visiting Congress

(Left) During the April Congressional Recess Susanne Ritter (middle), CTR supervisor, and Randolph Goodman (right), Business Community liaison from the Gary Job Corps Center visited with Texas Congressman Ralph Hall. Congressman Hall represents the 4th Congressional District, students that attend the Gary Center reside throughout the state. The Job Corps Program will be celebrating its 50th anniversary, training youth in the 125 centers throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.
