VFW Auxiliary recognizes contributions of American women during WWII by celebrating Rosie the Riveter Day
Rosie the Riveter stands for the millions of women who left their homes for factories to keep the country’s manufacturing processes going during World War II. After decades of sustained activism, U.S. Congress heeded calls to dedicate March 21 to this cultural icon.
In the VFW Auxiliary meeting held on March 21, Lorette Eiben dressed up as Rosie the Riveter to celebrate Rosie the Riveter Day.
As an icon and role model, Rosie the Riveter Day represents and recognizes the role American women played in the country’s victory in World War II.
As the Great War raged on in the early 1940s, all able-bodied men were drafted to fight, and women were called upon to support the workforce.
