Richard E. Rangel
Richard E. Rangel, 56, a lifetime resident of San Marcos, passed away Aug. 16, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born Dec. 17, 1956, in San Marcos, to Cruz and Manuela (Espinoza) Rangel.
Richard graduated from San Marcos High School where he was very active in sports. In fact his passion for baseball was strong throughout his life. Richard will always be remembered as a kind and gentle man who was always ready to help others. His many friends will remember his early morning phone calls to simply ask them “What are you doing?” He loved the outdoors and his job as custodian at the Hays Consolidated School District. Richard’s main love was his family and having them near him. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Patsy Alvarez. Richard is survived by his wife Refugia Rangel; his son Rueben Ybarra and his wife Skylar; daughter Marie Rangel; and grandson Joshua Salgado. e is also survived by his brothers Cruz Rangel and Jonas Rangel; his sisters Irene Sierra, Terry Sanchez, Mary Jane Barrera and Candy Barrera; and other loving relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug, 21, from 4 until 9 p.m. at Thomason Funeral Home in San Marcos. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Renew Church, 2240 FM 725, New Braunfels. Burial to follow at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale.
