Jesusa ‘Chuya’ Patlan
Surrounded by her family and loved ones, Jesusa "Chuya" Patlan passed peacefully, was released from her earthly bonds and escorted by the angels of our Heavenly Father on May 3, 2013 at the golden age of 95. Born April 8, 1918 in Martindale, she was a beloved aunt and friend.
Chuya, as we all knew her, is preceded in death by her parents Margarito and Maria Patlan and sisters Ignacia Santabanez, Julia Navarro, Felipa Patlan, Concepcion Alonso, Ignacia and Luz Rocha, Petra Rodriguez and Ignacia Gonzales of Calif. Chuya loved her church. She dedicated herself and was a member of "las Hijas de Maria" of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church of Martindale. Chuya enjoyed cooking, baking, especially tamales, making holidays very special for her family with love, joy and peace. Her warmth and smile we will always cherish and in our hearts, her spirit will always be with us. We thank God for giving her to us for as long as we had her.
Surviving family are nieces Lupe Patlan, Josefina Mendez, Dolores Lombardo, Cleofas Santabanez, Esparanza Saucedo, Pat Perez, Janie Robles, Luisa Carisco, Janie Rodriguez, Lupe Solozano and Christina, all of San Marcos; Dolores Angel and Jessie Gonzales, both of Calif., nephews Felipe and Joel Rocha, Jose Gonzales, Margarito Alonso and Santiago Aguilar, all of San Marcos.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, May 7, from 2-7:30 p.m. at Los Angeles Funeral Home, 300 Cheatham St., San Marcos. Recitation of Rosary will be Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Los Angeles Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Rev. Father Victor Mayorga will officiate. Interment will follow in Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale. Deacon Lalo Duran will officiate.
Serving as pallbearers are Joel III, Jimmy, and Robert Rocha, Rudy Mendez, Gilbert Lombardo and Manuel Saucedo.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Warm Springs Rehab. Center in Luling for the warmth and care of our beloved Chuya.
