High School Football: Rattlers topple Titans

The Rattlers are no longer the “almost guys.”

For the first time since 2005, the San Marcos is undefeated after its first two contests of the season.

Thursday night head coach Mark Soto, in his second year, doubled the Rattlers’ win total from all of 2012 to improve to 2-0 after a 38-12 victory over the Victoria East Titans.

It didn’t take long for the Rattlers to strike first. On the second play of the game, San Marcos senior tailback Jonoah Fabian scooted around the left side of the line and took it all the way for a 68-yard touchdown run. Fabian and the SMHS offense virtually did whatever it wanted, garnering more than 200 yards rushing on the night.

The San Marcos defense, however, showed out forcing multiple turnovers that led to points.
